Julie Sando “Nightshades”

Nightshades:

The Nightshades project references both the solanacea family of ornamental and medicinal plants and common shades of hosiery. From a database of scans made from offset printed hosiery packaging and advertisements, the artist has inverted their original colours and removed portions of their textual information through a variety of analogue and digital processes. In doing this, many of the shared ideologies that underpin these commercial impressions are revealed.
