The images are part of an ongoing project, in which I reflect on mankind relationship with the natural world. I do this by focusing on the electric wires that span everywhere around the globe. Starting with works that were inspired by a deep observation of primative nature, I developed a strong interest on the impact that nature has on humankind and its inhabited places. Wild areas dramatic shrink, while human intervention on the land is omnipresent. My intention is to focus on the inevitable interaction of the wildness towards the new interventions, how mankind is interwoven with its environment and how the two realities coexist. The images were captured on 35mm black-and-white film and developed with caffenol, a homemade developer out of coffee, soda and vitamin C. |
