Stephen Aljian, "Greece series"

I was a 9/11 resident and rescue worker and Artist in NYC. The photos here represent a happier time in my life than today. The groups of photos here are my holiday snaps from Greece - prior to the events on 9/11. Today I have joined photos together and burned into then creating various marks and effects in the emulsion. There are many metaphors here related to my life than when the photos where taken and now as I have altered them with damage and scars from heat which symbolizes what I have gone through in the last 13 years.
